Body’s immune response may offer alternative approach to neuropathic pain therapies

A group of researchers is investigating natural killer( NK ) cells as an alternative treatment for neuropathic pain in the midst of a global opioid epidemic. The ability of NK cells to prune the damaged nerve cells that may cause pain is one of the evidence being gathered by researchers for their effect on pain. They urge the scientific community to investigate the biological processes that underlie NK cell activity in order to develop a practical, secure form of pain management.
