Sea insect contain more than 30 previously unidentified RNA infections. Smaller crustaceans known as sea lice, which are pathogenic copepods found in a variety of freshwater and saltwater habitats, are thought to be responsible for the decline of wild salmon populations. The study provides more insight into the different viruses that sea lice carry and how the viruses and sponsor interact.
